Reverse Circulation, Diamond and Air Core Drilling

RC Drilling

Reverse Circulation drilling, or RC drilling, is a method of drilling which uses dual wall drill rods that consist of an outer drill rod with an inner tube. These hollow inner tubes allow the drill cuttings to be transported back to the surface in a continuous, steady flow. Reverse Circulation drilling produces small rock chips through a large rotary drill and air compressor. Durock Drilling’s rotary splitting and inline systems produce dry and excellent quality samples.

Diamond Drilling

Exploration diamond drilling is used in the mining industry to probe the contents of known ore deposits and potential sites. By withdrawing a small diameter core of rock from the ore body, geologists can analyse the core by chemical assay and conduct petrologic, structural and mineralogical studies of the rock. Diamond core drilling is the most informative and effective method of drilling used in exploration. Durock Drilling provide fully orientated, high quality core samples through HQ/HQ3, NQ2 and PQ3 sized drill bits.

Air Core Drilling

Air core drilling can occasionally produce small chunks of cored rock. This method of drilling is used to drill the weathered regolith, as the drill rig and steel or tungsten blades cannot penetrate fresh rock. Air core drilling can achieve depths approaching 300 metres in good conditions.
